A+UD provided pro-bono services to LEAP, a nonprofit educational organization, in site selection, zoning analysis, programming, and implementation logistics, with the goal of expanding their institutional offer within the context of the “Escuelas Públicas Alianza” Program in Puerto Rico. These included a potential relocation of their first academy in Sabana Llana, San Juan to a permanent new facility nearby, as well as evaluation of the reuse strategy of particular sites in Carolina. In the case of LEAP ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY OF BAYAMÓN, a K-12 grade school for 800 students at the former Padre Rufo School Site and baseball park (54,000 mc), Santa Juanita, Bayamón, A+UD was engaged in a complex exploration of zoning, programming, conceptual design and cost alternatives, as well as participation in coordination activities with the municipality. These efforts provided the basis for the continuation of LEAP expansion in the island.
